The air defence debate has returned strongly to Europe, against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine and the growing threat from drones and missiles. It has now emerged as a top priority for European countries, following the escalation of asymmetric threats.
Besides, the idea of a European “drone wall” of a network of sensors, detection systems and neutralization means to shield is now being promoted at a high level of political and military planning.
At the recent informal meeting of EU member state leaders, the creation of a coordinated shield against unwanted UAVs was set as a priority, following repeated violations and recordings of drones over European territory.
