The Prince visited the Alonissos and Northern Sporades National Marine Park on Wednesday, October 8, and Thursday, October 9, as part of the “Mission Greece” program and the educational initiative Monaco Explorations.
During his visit, Prince Albert supported Mediterranean monk seal conservation efforts and participated in the opening of the AMoS Film Festival. He toured Patitiri and met with residents as well as representatives of the local municipal authority.
Accompanied by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Petros Varelidis, and the President of OFYPEKA, Maria Papadopoulou, the Prince also toured the marine areas near Skopelos on the OFYPEKA vessel. There, in collaboration with Panos Dendrinos, President of the environmental organization MoM, he was guided through caves that serve as critical breeding sites for the Mediterranean monk seal.
Prince Albert II’s presence in Greece highlights the importance of international cooperation in protecting the Mediterranean and confirms OFYPEKA’s role as a key institutional partner in promoting marine conservation, sustainable development, and active participation of local communities.
