A demonstration protesting against Vladimir Putin with the participation of hundreds of Russians took place in St. Petersburg a few days ago.

The gathering chose Kazanskaya Square and sang anti-war songs along with street musicians.

According to international media reports, the dominant song was by rapper Noize MC who supports Ukraine.

“Where have you been for the last eight years, you f—ing monsters? I want to watch ballet, let the swans dance. Let your grandfather shake with excitement for Swan Lake. When the Tsar dies, we’ll dance again. The old man still hangs on to his throne, afraid to leave it. The old man in the bunker, still believing it’s 1985” are some of the lyrics of the song that has become an “anti-war ‘anthem'” for Russian youth.

Noize MC, whose real name is Ivan Alekseev has fled to Lithuania shortly after the Russian invasion began in 2022.

As Daily Mail notes, a St. Petersburg court has banned the song’s distribution since May.

According to Russian media, police have arrested 18-year-old singer Dayana Loginova for leading the chants, according to Russian media. According to the same sources, the 18-year-old will be charged with an administrative violation for organizing a large gathering in a public place.

Her mother said her daughter is not involved in politics and chose to sing the song only because of its popularity.
