U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance is expected to arrive in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, with the Israel Airports Authority warning of traffic restrictions and operational changes at Ben Gurion International Airport between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The trip has not been officially confirmed by Washington or the Israeli side.
The Airports Authority said that traffic disruptions are expected around the airport between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. local time and that some flights will be moved to a different terminal for normal operations. Despite operational preparations, there has been no official announcement from the White House or the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel regarding the visit so far.
Hamas delegation in Cairo
On the diplomatic front, a Hamas delegation is in Cairo for talks with Qatari and Egyptian officials on the continuation of the fragile ceasefire in Gaza. The consultations are being held in the wake of Israeli strikes on multiple Hamas targets in the Strip, a day after Israeli soldiers were killed in an attack that Israel called a “flagrant violation” of the truce. Hamas denies knowledge of the attack and, for its part, accuses Israel of violating the terms in force since October 10.
According to the same reports, the Hamas delegation is led by Khalil al-Haya, with the organisation saying the talks will address “the dozens of airstrikes that have caused dozens of deaths in Gaza”. Meanwhile, contacts with Egyptian officials are planned for an upcoming intra-Palestinian dialogue in Cairo, aimed at “unifying Palestinian factions.”
