Reese Witherspoon has opened up about Jennifer Aniston’s relationship with Brad Pitt after their divorce, revealing that the actress remains on friendly terms with people who have played an important role in her life.
Speaking on the Armchair Expert podcast on Monday, November 3, Witherspoon discussed the former couple and Aniston’s attitude toward her past. “It’s not what people think — that she holds onto things from the past. She doesn’t live in the past,” the actress said.
Her comment prompted host Dax Shepard to ask, “So, she doesn’t pine for Brad Pitt?” Witherspoon agreed, adding: “And by the way, at her 50th birthday party — which was such a perfect example of what a wonderful person she is — there were people from every part of her life. Friends from her teenage years, her 20s, people who work in her home, every ex-husband, every ex-boyfriend.”
“She’s a person of great integrity,” Witherspoon continued, describing her 25-year friendship with Aniston. “She’s not someone who cuts ties with her past. She’s warm and welcoming — the kind of person who says, ‘Come over to my house.’ Very open and kind.”
According to Page Six, both Brad Pitt and Aniston’s former fiancé, Gwyneth Paltrow, attended her 50th birthday celebration in February 2019.
Aniston, who recently confirmed her relationship with her new partner, hypnotherapist Jim Curtis, via Instagram, was married to Brad Pitt from 2000 to 2005. She later married actor Justin Theroux in 2015; the couple separated in 2018 but remain close friends. Over the years, Aniston has also been linked to several well-known figures, including John Mayer, Vince Vaughn, Paul Rudd, and Jon Stewart.
