Piracy took place on a Greek owned oil tanker off the coast of Somalia, as announced today (6/11) by the British maritime security company Ambrey.
According to information, the tanker HELLAS APHRODITE, with 24 crew members, was sailing from Sikka, India with final destination Durban, South Africa. It was 560 nautical miles southeast of Eyl, Somalia when the piracy took place. The crew is in good health.

“The pirates reportedly approached with a small boat and opened fire on the tanker,” Ambrey said in a statement, adding that the pirates were operating from a small vessel flying the Iranian flag, which they had seized.
