The tragedy that shocked Evia and Boeotia has taken on a new, heartbreaking dimension.
The mother of the 27-year-old construction worker, who was found dead, burned inside a car in Skourta, Boeotia on November 8, passed away yesterday from a heart attack, unable to bear the pain of losing her child.
At the same time, shocking details are emerging about the horrific murder of a 27-year-old construction worker from Chalkida.
The fatal meeting in Vilia
According to initial reports, the young man was allegedly lured to Vilia to meet a woman he had met through a dating app.
However, instead of a date, it appears a well-organized trap was set.
The perpetrators, according to current information, held him captive for about 24 hours, during which they tortured him and then shot him. Afterwards, they transported his body to Skourta and set fire to the car to destroy the crime evidence.
The burned vehicle and the authorities’ first findings
The vehicle in which the body was found had been reported stolen in May from Glyfada and bore license plates from another car registered in Pieria. This detail, according to the police, indicates that behind the crime there may be an organized gang using a “professional” methodology.
Homicide Department officers believe it likely that the 27-year-old was murdered at a different location and then moved to the remote place where the burned vehicle was found.
The mobile phone ‘key’ to the case
Police continue intensive investigations to fully solve the case. At the center of attention is the victim’s mobile phone, which has not yet been found and is believed to contain crucial information about the people who trapped him and led him to the fatal meeting.
The gruesome crime has frozen the local communities of Chalkida and Boeotia, with residents describing it as a crime of unprecedented brutality. Police say solving the case is only a matter of time, as evidence gradually points toward the individuals who organized and carried out the heinous act.
