Damasi in mourning for the 49-year-old baker — What the forensic examination uncovered

The final farewell is held today for the woman who died after her scarf was caught in the kneading machine, tightening around her neck — Testimony from the woman who found her

Newsroom November 14 07:45

A day after the tragic death of a 49-year-old woman in Damasi, her relatives and fellow villagers are shocked by the tragic accident that claimed her life inside the bakery she kept and where she worked every day. Today at 12 noon, they will bid farewell to the unfortunate woman, who is being buried at St. Tryphon’s Church.

Zoe, 49, was at the bakery early, as she was every day, to begin the production process. But one wicked moment was enough to cost her her own life. According to testimonies from fellow residents, in the early hours of the morning, while cleaning the kneading room, the scarf she was wearing got tangled, resulting in her death.

The baker was spotted by a neighbour who was passing by the spot at 6.15 am. He described the First Topic at that moment: “I was walking outside the bakery and I saw Zoe, as if she was not well. I didn’t like the position of her body over the kneading machine. My instinct made me go in to say good morning to her and see if she was okay. She was standing upright over the fermenter. The scarf around her neck was caught in the machine, and the woman was like a hanging, unconscious woman. I went crazy. I touched her and started calling out, “Zoe, Zoe, are you okay?” She didn’t answer; she must have been dead already. And then I started screaming for help,” she describes.

The same woman, along with a relative of the 49-year-old woman who came forward, alerted the ECAB. The ambulance arrived at the scene in just 15 minutes. The rescuers performed CPR on her, but unfortunately, they were unable to revive her.

Damascus was plunged into grief for the late woman, who was a mother of two children. A few hours later, the forensic examination simply certified that the scarf she was wearing acted as a loop and caused her death.
