Impressive finish for Greek sailors at the “Athens International Sailing Week 2025”

Greek sailors claimed all medals in the three Olympic classes, except for the gold in the ILCA 7 men’s category

Newsroom November 20 08:20

The second phase of the 34th Athens International Sailing Week 2025 concluded with an outstanding performance by Greek sailors, who won every medal in the three Olympic classes, with the sole exception of the ILCA 7 men’s gold.

Our athletes delivered an excellent showing once again, demonstrating their high level in yet another challenging competition. The presence of several strong foreign sailors and the live broadcast of the races on the HSF YouTube channel contributed to a spectacular event.

On Thursday, the medal race for ILCA 6 women and ILCA 7 men took place, with commentary provided by three major sailing figures: Italian Finn silver Olympic medalist in Sydney, Luca Devoti, and the Greek experts Aimilios Papathanasiou (member of the World Sailing Council) and Stefanos Chandakas, vice-president of the HSF and secretary-general of the HOC.

In the women’s event, the winner was Ermioni Gika, world champion and 2025 European U19 champion, while in the men’s category first place went to N. Halliday from Hong Kong.

All three Olympic classes also counted as national championships.
