A serious violent incident occurred on Sunday (23/11) during a football match for the Larissa A’ Local Division championship, according to what was recorded in the match report.

According to onlarissa.gr, the referees stated that the second assistant referee was punched by a club official who entered the pitch without provocation.

The tension did not end there. Another member of the club is also reported to have verbally threatened the match officials.

As noted in the match report, threatening phrases were heard referring to “beating” and “we’ll f*** you up”, while after the end of the match, the referees filed a formal complaint, denouncing physical violence, threats and verbal abuse.

“This is a disgrace that unfortunately we still see happening in football, and which I condemn unreservedly both as a person and as President of the Larissa Football Clubs Association. Violence is never a solution, for any reason.

As far as this specific incident is concerned, justice will deliver its verdict,” said the President of the Larissa Football Associations Union, Mr Dimitris Bouhlariotis.
