Mozzartsport: Obradovic resigns from Partizan after crushing defeat to Panathinaikos

A shockwave hit Partizan following their heavy loss to Panathinaikos at OAKA. According to the Serbian sports site mozzartsport.com, coach Željko Obradović has submitted his resignation to the club’s management, taking responsibility for Partizan’s seventh loss in the last eight Euroleague games

Newsroom November 26 05:55

Despite having overwhelming support from the fans, Obradović felt he could no longer change the team’s fortunes and placed his resignation at the disposal of the club’s board, causing turmoil inside the club.

The mood worsened significantly after the defeat to Panathinaikos. For the first time in his career, Obradović appeared visibly disappointed and without solutions. When asked by reporters how the team’s trajectory could be changed, he simply replied, “I don’t know.” This statement is seen as a clear sign that he recognizes radical decisions are needed. The team had already made major roster changes in the past, but this time, the coach himself has stepped down.

Now, the hot potato passes to the club’s president Ostojа Mijailović and the board, who must decide whether to accept the resignation—thus saying goodbye to the man who reignited hope and excitement among Partizan fans after tough years—or try to persuade him to stay.

The final decision is expected tonight or at the latest tomorrow.
