On Friday, December 5, in the context of Greece’s operational relationship with Libya, Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis will receive the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Akila Saleh, while a business mission to Libya is planned for January 2026, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Lana Zohiou said during a regular briefing of diplomatic editors.

During the same briefing, it was announced that the foreign minister will reiterate Greece’s position that the Turkish-Libyan memorandum is illegal and unsubstantiated.

Ms. Zohiou recalled that after Mr. Gerapetritis’s last visit to Benghazi and his meetings with Khalifa Haftar, the process of ratification of the Turkish-Colombian memorandum by the Libyan Parliament did not proceed. In the same context, it was noted that amid Turkey’s pressure for ratification, the visit of the Speaker of the Parliament to Athens is considered a positive development for bilateral contacts.
