The Vice President of the Government, Kostis Hatzidakis, met today with the Ambassador of the United States of America, Kimberly Guilfoyle.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that bilateral relations between Greece and the United States are at the highest level of recent years.
Particular reference was made to the recent agreements in the energy sector, which enhance the country’s geopolitical position. At the same time, they discussed prospects for further deepening cooperation in this field, as well as in economic cooperation more broadly.
Mr. Hatzidakis highlighted the significant progress made by the Greek economy in recent years, thanks to the government’s pro-investment policy. He also expressed interest in attracting new investments from the United States, following all that has taken place in recent years.
After the meeting, the following statements were made:
Kostis Hatzidakis:
“We had a very productive discussion with the Ambassador of the United States of America, Ms. Kimberly Guilfoyle, who has been in Greece for a very short period of time but has already shown great dynamism. At the same time, she has combined her presence with very important agreements in the energy sector—agreements that bring the United States closer to Greece. Agreements that further upgrade the country’s geostrategic role.
The Mitsotakis government is determined to continue this cooperation with the United States and the Trump administration.
We are a reliable partner of the United States and a reliable partner in NATO, without any doubt. And at the same time, after the investments made over the last 6.5 years in Greece by major American companies, and after the investments decided in recent days, we look forward to strengthening our economic cooperation and to new, increased investments from the United States. Because Greece is clearly a country friendly to investments.”
Kimberly Guilfoyle:
“Mr. Vice President of the Government, thank you for your warm hospitality today. It is an honor to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece, the birthplace of democracy. Greece has been a strong partner of the United States in defense and security, energy, shipping, and innovation.
With its strong economic prospects, its commitment to conflict resolution, and its substantial contribution to ensuring regional stability, Greece’s key role as a regional and international hub will only increase. And today, under the leadership of our visionary President Donald, the United States is committed to elevating this relationship as never before. President Trump believes that strong allies deserve strong partnerships, based on respect, reciprocity, and results. I look forward to working for Greece’s success and for our long-standing personal and business relationships, to achieve victories for both of our great countries.”
