Nicos Christodoulides reshuffles the government in Cyprus

Who are the new members of the government

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides has proceeded with a government reshuffle, removing Giorgos Papastasiou from the Ministry of Energy — the minister who was overseeing the Greece–Cyprus electricity interconnection project — while retaining Finance Minister Makis Keravnos, who cites studies indicating the project is not viable.

According to the announcement from the Cypriot Presidency, the President of the Republic, exercising the powers granted to him by the Constitution, has decided to make the following changes to the composition of the government:

New Members of the Council of Ministers

Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry
Appointed: Michalis Damianou, previously at the Ministry of Health.
Departing: Giorgos Papastasiou.

Minister of Labour and Social Insurance
Appointed: Marinos Mousiouttas.
Departing: Yiannis Panayiotou.

Minister of Justice and Public Order
Appointed: Konstantinos Fytiris.
Departing: Marios Hartsiotis, who will now serve as Commissioner of the Presidency.

Minister of Health
Appointed: Neofytos Charalambides.
Departing: Michalis Damianou.

Deputy Minister of Social Welfare
Appointed: Klea Chatzistefanou Papaellina.
Departing: Marilena Evangelou.

Presidential Commissioner
Appointed: Marios Hartsiotis, replacing Anna Aristotelous.

The swearing-in and assumption of duties of the new ministers and government officials will take place on Monday, 8 December 2025.
