Paralympians and world champions Vasilis Christoforou (quadriplegia) and Thodoris Alexas (lower limb amputation) secured the bronze medal in the highly competitive RS Venture Connect category, competing against 30 teams. The fierce competition was evident as all three medals were decided in the final race among six crews who were either tied or separated by just a single point.
Representing the Hellenic Nautical Club, the athletes have been competing since 2022 in the RS Venture Connect class under the guidance of coach Akis Tsarouchis. This two-person vessel is considered one of the most modern in the sport, with the level of competition reaching extraordinary heights.
The World Sailing Federation places great emphasis on inclusion, and this championship broke all previous records with a remarkable number of athletes and countries participating.
Also competing in the same championship was another club athlete, Giorgos Roulias (partial lower limb paralysis), who took 20th place in the Hansa 303 category.
