Volodymyr Zelensky was received by Pope Leo at Castel Gandolfo on Tuesday morning.
According to the Vatican press service, the Ukrainian president’s meeting with the pontiff focused on the current situation of the war in Ukraine, with the Pope stressing the importance of continuing dialogue and expressing his hope for a just and lasting peace.
Pope Leo emphasized the need for the ongoing diplomatic initiatives to achieve a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian conflict. He also raised the issue of prisoners of war and the importance of ensuring the return of Ukrainian children to their families.
Today marked the second time Pope Leo has received President Zelensky at the papal palace, following their first meeting on July 9.
