Members of the Committee on Investigations have joined the revelations about the people arrested as part of the Greek FBI’s extensive investigation into illegal subsidies from OPEKEPE in Crete.
New Democracy rapporteur Makarios Lazaridis, addressing the PASOK MPs and responding to Milena Apostolaki, who earlier claimed that among those arrested was “an agro-syndicalist Mr. Hiletzakis, a member of the New Democracy party,” said:
Ms Apostolaki told us that today’s topic is the arrests of the economic police in Crete. Right, this shows that the State is working. She also told us that an agro-syndicalist, Chiletzakis, was arrested and claimed that he is a member of the Southwest. Listen, 14 others have been arrested. Among them is the director of the Heraklion Agricultural Association who is also an accountant. His name is Lambrakis, and he is the best man of Nikos Androulakis.”
Returning to the issue, Ms Apostolaki noted that she did not know any details of the case but was quick to clarify “if and when there is the slightest suspicion that a PASOK member is involved, he or she will be expelled from PASOK in a matter of minutes”.
As a reminder, the Greek FBI made 15 arrests on Friday morning for a criminal organisation that allegedly received €1.7 million in illegal subsidies in the period 2019-2025
