Weather: Mild with cold in the evening and north winds – What the meteorologists predict from 16 December onwards

A few showers at the weekend - Negative temperatures yesterday in mountainous settlements

Newsroom December 12 08:15

The weather for today is expected to be mild, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service (NMS), with cold weather prevailing mainly during the night and early morning hours. The north winds in the Aegean Sea will remain strong, with variations in intensity. From Saturday to Sunday, a few showers are expected, mainly in the eastern and southern parts of the country, with no particular effects.

Klearchos Marousakis, via a post, said that mild weather conditions are expected to continue in the coming days, while the morning and evening will remain cold. He also refers to the persistence of northerly winds in the Aegean Sea, which he stresses will affect the weather over the next few days, with a gradual weakening only towards the end of the week.

On the other hand, meteorologist Thodoros Kolydas predicts that the mild atmosphere will be maintained until December 16, with the forecast data being stable and ensembles showing concentration in the forecast. However, after December 17, uncertainty increases as the trajectory of weather systems becomes more difficult to predict.

Although the initial wave of bad weather is expected to affect the Aegean region and bring severe weather from 16/12, the development after 17-18 December becomes uncertain. Meteorological models show scenarios for a rapid eastward shift of the system towards Greece, while other forecasts want the system to be delayed and eventually affect southern Italy or Libya.

The period between 18 and 20 December will be critical, as further developments are expected then, with the possibility of bad weather increasing as the forecast begins to open up, with the atmosphere becoming more unstable. If the bad weather scenarios are confirmed, Greece could be affected by severe weather, but this will depend on the exact path of the low.

Uncertainty about the exact development of the atmosphere continues to be high, but the situation will remain under observation by meteorologists in the coming days.
