The long-standing social work of the Association “ELPIDA – Association of Friends of Children with Cancer”, through which thousands of children have been saved, and the contribution of the Association’s founder, the late Marianna V. Vardinoyannis in the fight against childhood cancer, Hellenic Post (ELTA) is honoring the work of the Foundation’s founder, Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, with the release of the new series of stamps and commemorative envelopes “ELPIDA – Marianna V. Vardinoyannis”.

Two of the stamps depict the late Marianna V. Vardinoyannis a) on the day she received the 2020 Nelson Mandela Award of the United Nations, and b) at a children’s celebration at the Oncology Hospital, where she is hugging a young ELPIDA patient. The other two stamps depict ELPIDA’s most emblematic project: the Marianna V. ELPIDA” and the logo of the ELPIDA Association, which is now synonymous with support for children with cancer and their families. In the commemorative envelope, the central place is occupied by Marianna V. Vardinoyannis’ phrase, which has become a motto for ELPIDA: “The life of a single child is worth fighting for.
In total, there are 5,000 leaflets with 4 adhesive stamps and 1,000 commemorative envelopes of the first day of circulation.
The release was launched on November 24, 2025, at the Constitution Square post office, where many philatelists and collectors stamped the stamps with the special first-day-of-issue stamp of this series, making them collectible.

The President of the Board of Directors of the ELPIDA, Mr. Daniel Benardout, the members of the Board of Directors of ELPIDA, Mrs. Secretary of the ELPIDA Vision Association, Mrs. Ino Konstantopoulou, members of the ELPIDA Association, and members of the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis and the ELTA.
