With locally heavy rain and thunderstorms, the weather will pass today, Christmas with most problems expected in areas of central and northern mainland Greece until the early morning hours, in central Macedonia until midday and in
eastern Macedonia and the northeastern Aegean islands until the afternoon.
According to the latest updated emergency weather bulletin from EMY, the bad weather will affect:
by morning Epirus, western Thessaly (regional units of Karditsa and Trikala), western and central Sterea (regional units of Aitoloakarnania, Evritania and Fokida) and western Peloponnese.
– Central Macedonia until Christmas noon
– Eastern Macedonia and the northeastern Aegean islands until Christmas afternoon (Thursday 25-12-2025).
The weather today
Showers and sporadic thunderstorms are forecast mainly in the northern mainland and the northern and eastern Aegean. The phenomena in central Macedonia until noon and in eastern Macedonia and the northeastern Aegean islands until the afternoon will be strong in places.
In Epirus, western Thessaly (regional units of Karditsa and Trikala), western and central Sterea (regional units of Aitoloakarnania, Evritania and Fokida) and western Peloponnese rain and thunderstorms, possibly heavy in places until the early morning hours, then the weather will improve and from midday there will be only increasing clouds with local rain.
In the rest of the country, clouds will be partly cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms. Occasional snowfall will occur in the continental mountains.
Winds will blow in Macedonia, Thrace and the northeastern Aegean with east northeastern winds of 4 to 6 Beaufort and from the evening in the northern Aegean of 7 Beaufort. In the rest of the country, winds will blow from southerly directions 3 to 5 Beaufort. The temperature will reach 10 to 13 degrees Celsius in the northern mainland, 16 to 17 degrees Celsius in the Ionian, the rest of the mainland and the northern Aegean, 18 to 19 degrees Celsius in the eastern islands and 20 degrees Celsius in Crete.
The weather until Monday
Cloudy skies, partly cloudy on Friday. Rains will mainly occur in eastern Thessaly, Evia, Sporades, eastern Sterea, the Ionian Islands and in the morning in the western mainland. Sporadic thunderstorms will occur in the Ionian Sea until midday. During the midday hours the phenomena will gradually weaken and in the evening in most areas they will have stopped.
A little snow will fall in the central and northern continental mountains.
Winds will blow in the west east southeast 3 to 5 and in the east north northeast 4 to 6 and in the northern Aegean in the morning hours locally 7 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop slightly mainly in the north. It will reach 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in the northern mainland, 13 to 15 degrees Celsius in the eastern mainland, 15 to 17 degrees Celsius in the west and 16 to 18 degrees Celsius in the rest of the country. Frost will occur in places early in the morning in the northern continents.
On Saturday a few clouds, partly cloudy and partly cloudy in the eastern part of the country, with local rain in the Sporades, Evia, eastern Central Greece, eastern Peloponnese, the Cyclades, northern Crete and in the morning in the northern Aegean.
Winds will blow from the north, 3 to 5 Beaufort in the west, 4 to 6 Beaufort in the east and locally 7 Beaufort in the Aegean.
The temperature will drop further, mainly in the east. Frost will occur in places early in the morning in the northern continents.
On Sunday the weather will be almost clear with local clouds on the Ionian Islands, the Cyclades, Crete, the eastern Aegean islands, eastern Macedonia and Thrace. A few local showers will occur from the afternoon in Crete and the northeastern Aegean. Light snowfall in the mountains of eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
Winds will blow north-northwest 3 to 5 and in the southeastern Aegean Sea locally 6, gradually increasing to 5 to 7 Beaufort.
and in some parts of the region it will be mainly in the north-eastern part of the country, with the winds expected to reach 5 to 10 mph and 5 to 10 mph.
The temperature will not change significantly. Frost will occur in places early in the morning in the central and northern continents.
On Monday a few clouds, partly increasing in the eastern and southern part of the country, with light local rain in the eastern islands and Crete.
Winds will blow from the north at 5 to 7 Beaufort with gradual weakening. The temperature will drop throughout the country. Frost will occur in places early in the morning on the mainland.
