Weather: From -10°C to 20°C within 48 hours

Detailed weather forecast through Epiphany

Newsroom January 3 08:45

In the coming days, a highly changeable weather pattern is expected across many regions of the country, with abrupt temperature fluctuations and alternating conditions—resembling a kind of “Scottish shower” for the mercury. This phenomenon, where temperatures rise or fall sharply within a short period of time, will become noticeable from the weekend and into the coming week. In fact, in some areas of the country, temperatures will reach as high as 20°C.

In Attica and Athens, maximum temperatures will range around 15–18°C in the first days, with sunshine or thin cloud cover and a low chance of rainfall. Gradually, temperatures will remain relatively mild for the season, without a significant nighttime drop, with minimum values around 8–10°C.

A similar pattern of temperature variations is expected in other central regions of the country, where maximum values will locally approach 15–17°C, while temperatures will drop more noticeably in the early morning hours, though without extreme lows below zero in lowland areas.

In the northern mainland regions, despite lower temperatures recorded in some cities, no sharp drops below -10°C are forecast in the coming days according to the latest available data. Meteorological services point to a trend toward mild weather and relatively high temperatures for the season across Greece.

Meteorologists note that such variations—with temperatures rising by several degrees within one to two days—are a common characteristic.

In the near term, the forecast indicates generally mild weather conditions, with sunny intervals alternating with cloudiness, and without particularly intense phenomena nationwide.
