Dozens of residents of Hydra are taking part as extras in the major film production currently underway on the island, earning fees of up to €200 per day.

According to information, many locals appear as extras in scenes filmed mainly at the port, creating strong activity and heightened interest within the local community.

To achieve the level of authenticity required by the script, the production plans to use even an old hydrofoil from the route as a key set piece for specific shots. Its presence is considered crucial for the atmosphere of the scenes, as it will enhance the realism of the cinematic setting at the port.

Weather disrupts filming schedule

However, the production’s plans faced disruption due to weather conditions. Strong winds and rain expected tomorrow morning forced the cancellation of part of the scheduled filming, which has now been postponed to the coming days.

At the same time, Brad Pitt has already arrived on the island, marking the start of the final phase of filming activity. The Hollywood star traveled discreetly by speedboat, accompanied by close collaborators, and headed to a private residence where he is staying upon arrival.

High-budget setup at the port

Filming centers on the island’s port, where the main production set has been installed. A state-of-the-art artificial rain system dominates the area, featuring large water tanks, high-powered pumps, and generators. This advanced and costly equipment highlights the film’s substantial budget.

In parallel, the production has leased three waterfront shops. One serves as equipment storage, while the other two have been transformed into sets, including a hydrofoil ticket office and a traditional café.

The presence of the large film crew has already altered daily life on Hydra. Available accommodation is fully booked, while cafés and restaurants operate at increased capacity to meet the needs of the production team.
