A wave of criticism has followed the stance taken by Laura Ann Tull, who publicly attacked Eric Dane just days after his death. Many social media users have accused her of disrespect and a lack of empathy.
Tull, who had appeared as an extra on Grey’s Anatomy, made a series of posts on the platform Threads in which she described Dane as “mean,” “cowardly,” and “rude,” also calling him a “narcissist.” She further alleged that she experienced “abusive” behavior on set and wrote, “I am the reason he was fired from Grey’s.”
The reaction was immediate. Many commented: “The man just died and he has small children — shame on you,” “Now that he can’t defend himself, you speak up?” and “It seems like you’re the bully.” Others stressed that the timing of her statements was inappropriate.

Despite the backlash — with many urging her to delete the posts out of respect for his children — Tull not only refused to remove them but continued to stand by her claims. On the platform, she argued that “no one in the U.S. can sue someone for defaming a dead person.”
She had made similar allegations in 2018 in an article published on an online platform, stating that she had learned through third parties that Dane had called her “weird,” while also noting that she had never spoken to him directly.
Eric Dane was part of the main cast of Grey’s Anatomy from 2006 to 2012, portraying Dr. Mark Sloan. His character exited at the beginning of Season 9. In a 2024 interview on Armchair Expert, hosted by Dax Shepard, he said he believed his departure was primarily due to financial reasons, noting that he had become “too expensive” for the network.
The actor died on February 19, less than a year after revealing that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
