French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Cyprus on Monday to express his support for the island as an EU member state that was targeted in a drone attack last week.
This was noted in a statement today from the French presidency.
According to the Élysée announcement, the discussions will focus on issues of bilateral cooperation, regional security, and economic relations.
The visit is part of a broader framework to strengthen France’s ties with its European partners, especially during a period of increased geopolitical challenges in the region.
Macron to meet with Mitsotakis and Christodoulides
As noted in the same statement, Macron will meet with the President of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulides, as well as Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
According to related updates, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will travel to Cyprus tomorrow as part of the defense support Greece provides to Cyprus.
All three men will arrive tomorrow in Paphos. There is the “Andreas Papandreou” airbase, where the Greek F-16s have also been deployed.
