The vice president of Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Hüseyin Yağman, commented on Greece’s defensive moves in the Aegean in light of the war in Iran, expressing his reaction to the strengthening of the islands’ military capabilities.
As he said, speaking at a press conference held at the party headquarters in Osmaniye province in central Turkey:
“If you arm these islands against Turkey, those weapons are not enough for Turkey. You cannot do anything against the unity and solidarity of the Turkish nation. Do not chase unattainable dreams… They want to turn the Aegean from a sea of peace into something else. We do not approve of this in any way; we do not consider it right. Our President’s stance on this issue is clear and he has told the Greek Prime Minister that diplomacy must always be a priority.”
