The Hellenic Initiative (THI) has announced a significant expansion of its long-standing partnership with ReGeneration, Greece’s leading paid placement and training platform for young graduates. With total support now exceeding $2 million, the collaboration has emerged as the most successful job-creation initiative in modern Greece, generating more than 5,000 employment opportunities during a decade marked by persistent youth unemployment and brain drain.
Founded in 2014 with the support of The Coca-Cola Company and THI, ReGeneration has grown into a cornerstone of Greece’s employability ecosystem. The program bridges the gap between education and the labor market, offering young graduates equitable access to training, professional development, and paid placements. Throughout this journey, THI has played a key strategic role, supporting governance, long-term planning, and the platform’s operational sustainability.
Measurable Impact at Scale
THI’s continued investment has enabled ReGeneration to deliver tangible and measurable results for both Greece’s economy and its workforce. To date, the program has achieved:
- Over 5,000 paid employment placements
- 11,000 alumni and 51,000 candidates assessed
- 850,000 hours of training across soft skills and technical fields, including AI, Data, Cybersecurity, Coding, and Sustainability
- More than 2,000 corporate partners
- A 90% six-month retention rate
- 49% faster hiring for participating employers
- Over €30 million in salaries generated for young professionals
This proven model has earned international recognition, including acknowledgment at the World Economic Forum, as well as 17 national awards for innovation and impact.
Scaling Through Technology
Looking ahead, THI’s 2026 funding will support program salaries while accelerating the development of an AI-driven platform designed to expand ReGeneration’s capacity and efficiency. The new platform is expected to:
- Reduce administrative workload by 30–40%
- Cut manual support requests by 50–60%
- Enable support for 20–25% more candidates per cycle
- Increase annual placements by 20–30%
- Reduce time-to-interview by approximately 20%
For donors, this marks a pivotal evolution: the ability to scale impact significantly without a proportional increase in operating costs.
Leadership Perspectives
George P. Stamas, President of THI’s Board, highlighted the broader significance of the initiative:
“ReGeneration is one of the clearest examples of diaspora philanthropy driving systemic, measurable change. THI’s investment has helped unlock thousands of jobs and create a new pathway of opportunity for young people in Greece. This is precisely the kind of long-term nation-building impact THI exists to deliver.”
Nikos Koumettis, THI Executive Committee Member and Co-Founder of ReGeneration, emphasized the program’s mission:
“ReGeneration was created to reverse the outflow of talent from Greece. Today, with more than 5,000 jobs created, it stands as a beacon of what cross-sector collaboration can achieve. THI has been a critical partner from day one, helping us scale with ambition, rigor, and a deep commitment to Greece’s next generation.”
Maria Moragianis, General Manager of ReGeneration, underscored the importance of the partnership:
“THI’s approach goes far beyond traditional donor support. It is built on real partnership, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to measurable impact. That consistency is what allowed ReGeneration to grow into a national employability platform, and why this relationship remains so meaningful.”
