Weather: Unsettled all week and light rain on March 25 – where you’ll need an umbrella during the parades

Weak rain, local showers and small temperature fluctuations are expected through Friday, with the weather conditions on the national holiday remaining limited in intensity and duration

Newsroom March 23 08:44

The weather will remain mild but unsettled throughout the week, with occasional local rain and slight temperature changes. On March 25, light rainfall is expected mainly in eastern and southern parts of the country, without intense phenomena that would significantly affect the parades.

Recent forecasts from meteorologists converge on the view that rainfall will be mostly light and localized, with signals for severe weather remaining limited.

What meteorologists say about the weather on March 25

No major changes are expected in the coming days, according to forecast model data presented by meteorologist Thodoris Kolydas in a Facebook post.

For Wednesday, March 25, in Athens, there is a chance of light rain, with small amounts expected (around 1–2 mm) and a probability of about 45%.

Kolydas’ post in detail:

“The weather outlook based on numerical forecast models

There is no significant change in the weather pattern.

Since everyone is interested in the weather for March 25, I am presenting the ECMWF forecasts. For Wednesday, ENS predictions for Athens indicate an average precipitation of 1–2 mm with a 45% probability. The general picture shows that most days this week in Athens do not show strong signals for rain. Friday is the day with the highest probability for notable precipitation, while the remaining days mainly show light or local rainfall.”

Tsatrafyllias’ post

“Parades will take place with umbrellas and light jackets,” noted meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllias in a Facebook post.

“An umbrella at the parade — that’s the big picture,” he said in a weather forecast video from a midday bulletin on Alpha.

According to him:
“On Tuesday, during the student parade, there will be drizzle in Attica and most mainland areas, while on the national holiday itself there will again be local rain. There will be some snow in mountainous areas, and the military parade in Athens will also take place with drizzle.”

Kanteres’ forecast

Meteorologist Nikos Kanteres also gave his forecast, noting that although it is officially spring, early March temperatures were below normal.

For today (March 23, World Meteorological Day), temperatures will be around 14–15°C, with light rain expected on Tuesday.

For March 25, he stated:
“On the day of the national anniversary, weather phenomena will mainly affect eastern and southern regions, with light rainfall, while northern Greece will see improved weather with more sunshine.”

Parades will take place normally, with only a chance of light drizzle in some areas.

He added that:
“On Thursday (March 26), more sunshine and a rise in temperature are expected, while from Friday (March 27), a small system will affect the country again, without causing problems.”

Temperatures near -5°C on the morning of Sunday, March 22, 2026
