Once again, Ierapetra is hit by fierce bad weather, with the coastal zone receiving waves that reach up to the first houses of the old town, while at the same time, a tornado overturned a truck in Pachia Ammos, and African dust has blanketed Heraklion.

Specifically in the Pachia Ammos reforestation area, a strong tornado turned over a truck that was going to load exportable vegetable products, while uprooting two pine trees, damaging two greenhouses, and the severity of the phenomenon caused a wall of a ceramics factory to collapse. This is the fourth serious incident this year due to the severe sirokawa that has hit the region.
As neakriti.gr reports, fishermen warn that the port remains unsecured and unsafe, while citizens are advised to avoid crossing the coastal zone until the severe weather subsides.
The coastal road and areas around greenhouses and factories remain at high risk, and the situation requires immediate attention from residents and drivers.

African dust “disappeared” from the port of Heraklion
Heraklion resembles… Sahara, with the “veil” of African dust having covered the city, “disappeared” the port. The following photos of CRETA24, are from midday (01/04), when the phenomenon is at its peak.

In addition to the prevailing yellow landscape, the increased concentration of African dust makes the atmosphere suffocating. The phenomenon will begin to gradually subside in the afternoon.
