A plan to end hostilities between Iran and the United States, which could come into force on Monday, has been reached by the two sides, Reuters reported, citing a source with knowledge of the proposals.
The framework for the deal was drawn up by Pakistan and transmitted overnight to Tehran and Washington. The proposal envisages a two-stage process, with an immediate ceasefire as the first step, followed by negotiations to conclude a comprehensive agreement to end the conflict.
According to the same source, the implementation of the plan could also lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important sea routes for international energy trade.
