Tehran has decided to suspend all communication with the United States, both through direct and indirect channels, according to Iranian media reports.
The move follows a direct threat by Donald Trump that “Iran’s civilization will end tonight.”
The U.S. and Iran have not had official diplomatic relations since 1979. Switzerland has traditionally acted as an intermediary between the two sides when necessary.
Following the U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran on February 28, it is known that both sides had been communicating through third countries (such as Pakistan, Turkey, and others), as well as directly through personal messages exchanged between officials.
On the American side, Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner have reportedly been in contact with Iranian counterparts, possibly including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
