The American Hellenic Institute has announced a special nationwide screening of the Greek historical film Kapodistrias (The Governor), which will be shown across theaters in the United States on April 22, 2026, for one night only.

Directed by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Yannis Smaragdis, the film tells the powerful true story of Ioannis Kapodistrias, Greece’s first Governor following the War of Independence. The production has already achieved significant success, ranking among the highest-grossing Greek films of all time, and has resonated strongly with audiences for its historical depth and emotional impact.

Beyond its cinematic value, Kapodistrias (The Governor) offers a meaningful cultural moment for the Greek diaspora, particularly within the Greek American community. The screening aims to reconnect audiences—especially younger generations—with their heritage, while encouraging reflection on the enduring ideals that helped define modern Greece.

Tickets for the April 22 screenings are now available, with participating theaters across the United States hosting this limited, one-night event.
