The Foreign Ministry has responded to Hakan Fidan regarding the cooperation between Greece, Cyprus and Israel, which the Turkish Foreign Minister had referred to.
The Greek Foreign Ministry clarifies that the cooperation with Cyprus and Israel has a peaceful purpose and is not directed against anyone, while noting that Greece does not accept suggestions, nor does it owe explanations for its foreign policy.
Recall that Fidan, among other things, said of the Greece-Cyprus-Israel cooperation that “it creates problems and war.”
The Foreign Ministry’s statement on Fidan’s statements:“Greece, as a member state of the European Union and NATO and an elected member of the United Nations Security Council, has proven that it has consistently worked for stability, good neighborly relations and peace over time.
Both the bilateral cooperation between Greece and Israel and the trilateral cooperation between Greece, the Republic of Cyprus and Israel, as well as all other trilateral cooperation between Greece and Israel, have a peaceful purpose and are not directed against third parties.
Greece formulates its foreign policy independently, does not accept suggestions, nor does it owe explanations to anyone. Dangerous statements and attempts to distort reality are of no use, especially in this period of regional instability and uncertainty.”
