Donald Trump announced in a post that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to proceed with a 10-day ceasefire, which will come into effect at midnight (Greece time).
According to the U.S. president, the aim of the ceasefire is to create the conditions for a broader peace agreement between the two countries. He also recalled that on Tuesday, delegations from Israel and Lebanon met in Washington for the first time in 34 years, in the presence of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Trump stated that he tasked U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in cooperation with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Caine, to work jointly with both sides to achieve lasting peace.
As he claimed: “It was my honor to resolve nine wars around the world and this will be the tenth, so let’s get it done.”
