According to information from the Ministry of Shipping, the Greek-interest vessel “Epaminondas” has not been seized by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

It is noted that earlier Iranian media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was behind attacks on three vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Fars news agency, which is affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard, one of the vessels hit was the “Euphoria”, a Panama-flagged ship owned by a company based in the United Arab Emirates, which allegedly ran aground off the Iranian coast after the attack.

At the same time, Iranian media reported that two other vessels—the Panama-flagged “MSC Francesca” and the Greek-interest “Epaminondas”—were seized and taken toward Iran, citing a statement by the Revolutionary Guard navy, a claim that has been denied by the Ministry of Shipping.

According to the security company Diaplous, the captain of the “Epaminondas” (IMO 9153862), Liberia-flagged and managed by Maersk, reported that a boat belonging to the Revolutionary Guard approached the vessel without prior radio communication and then opened fire.

The vessel, owned by the Greek-interest company Technomar of George Yroukos, has a crew of 21, consisting of Ukrainian and Filipino nationals.

According to the same reports, the attack caused minor material damage to the ship’s bridge, despite initial reports of more serious impact. All crew members are confirmed safe.
