The National Intelligence Service (NIS) announces the launch of its 1st innovation competition, the “National Security Innovation Challenge,” with a focus on national security. This is an open initiative aimed at:
- Highlighting innovative solutions and leveraging emerging technologies for the National Intelligence Service and its partner organizations
- Developing a strong national collaboration ecosystem in the field of national security, among relevant authorities, the academic community, and the public and private sectors
- Strengthening a culture of innovation by supporting youth entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and research teams in the intelligence sector
Through this initiative, the NIS is addressing researchers, startups, students, professionals, and technology development teams from across Greece, inviting them to submit original ideas and applications that utilize modern technologies and respond to real-world challenges.
The National Security Innovation Challenge focuses on five main thematic areas:
- Next-Generation Intelligence Analysis
- Cyber-Physical Security in Contested Environments
- Information Security & Resilient Communications
- Advanced Investigations & Signal Exploitation
- Disruptive Technologies for Security Superiority
Participants will have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes and receive support from mentors and experts, enhancing the further development of their ideas.
The process includes stages of proposal submission, evaluation, development under expert mentorship, and final presentation, culminating in the awarding of the best ideas in June 2026.
