Donald Trump announced that he will lift tariffs and restrictions on whisky and bourbon “in honor of the king and queen,” following the conclusion of the visit of Charles and Camilla to the United States.
Shortly after the farewell meeting of the royal couple with Trump at the White House, the American president wrote on Truth Social: “In honor of the King and Queen of the United Kingdom, who have just departed from the White House and will soon return to their wonderful country, I will eliminate the tariffs and restrictions imposed on whisky related to Scotland’s ability to cooperate with the State of Kentucky in the whisky and bourbon sector, two very important industries both in Scotland and Kentucky.”
“People have wanted to do this for a long time, as there has been significant interstate trade activity, especially regarding the wooden barrels used. The king and queen got me to do something no one else was able to do, without even asking me! It is a great honor to have them both in the United States,” he concluded in his post.
