On May 10, 2026, Impact Hub Athens will host the Circular Economy Fair, a dynamic, free-entry event inviting participants to imagine what life in a truly circular city could look and feel like. Starting at 10:30, the fair aims to bring together citizens, experts, and changemakers in a shared effort to rethink how Athens consumes, produces, and evolves.
Organized as part of a broader volunteer-driven initiative in collaboration with Global Shapers Athens Hub, the event focuses on empowering young people to challenge the culture of overconsumption and waste. Through education, action, and open dialogue, the initiative seeks to position Athens as a more sustainable and circular city.

The Circular Economy Fair is designed as an immersive experience rather than a traditional conference. The program blends workshops, panel discussions, keynote talks, and interactive happenings, encouraging participants to actively engage and contribute ideas. At its core is a participatory approach: attendees are not just observers, but co-creators in shaping more sustainable urban solutions.
Two key panel discussions will anchor the event. The first, “Circular Living in 2050,” explores how cities and lifestyles might evolve in a fully circular future. The second, “Food Waste in Athens: Turning Awareness into Everyday Habits,” addresses one of the most pressing environmental challenges at the local level.
Among the speakers are leading voices from academia and civil society, including Professor Maria Loizidou of the National Technical University of Athens and Achilleas Plitharas from WWF Greece, alongside professionals from NGOs, consulting firms, and the private sector.
Through interactive discussions and co-creation sessions, participants will have the opportunity to share their perspectives, propose ideas, and contribute to shaping a more sustainable future for Athens. The event ultimately poses a simple but powerful question: what if, even for one day, we lived in a circular city?
