An alarm was raised in the early hours of Monday, May 4, in Moscow when, according to local media reports and Telegram channels, a powerful explosion was heard in a residential area near the Kremlin.
According to Ukrainska Pravda, the incident occurred on Mosfilmovskaya Street, with images circulating that show damage to an apartment building, reportedly caused by a Ukrainian drone strike.
Initially, there was no official confirmation, but residents reported that the explosion was felt over a wide area, causing panic. Emergency services rushed to the scene, cordoning off the area and launching an investigation into the cause of the incident.
A few hours later, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that it was a drone attack. As he stated, “According to preliminary information, a drone struck a building near Mosfilmovskaya Street. There are no casualties. Emergency services are working at the scene.”
According to the same reports, the explosion occurred approximately six kilometers from the Kremlin, heightening concerns about security in the heart of the Russian capital.
During the night and early morning hours, Sobyanin also announced that two additional drones heading toward Moscow were shot down by Russian air defense forces, without causing damage or casualties.
