Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, criticized Kuwait over what he described as an “illegal attack” on an Iranian vessel and the arrest of four Iranian nationals in the Persian Gulf.
In a post on social media, he stressed that Tehran is demanding their immediate release and reserves the right to respond.
As he wrote: “In a clear attempt to sow division, Kuwait illegally attacked an Iranian vessel and arrested four of our citizens in the Persian Gulf. This illegal act took place near an island used by the United States to attack Iran.
“We demand the immediate release of our nationals and reserve the right to react.”
In a statement issued yesterday, Tuesday, by Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Tehran condemned the arrest of the four Iranians in Kuwait, who reportedly confessed to being members of the Revolutionary Guards, claiming that they had entered Kuwaiti territorial waters during a patrol due to a malfunction in their navigation system.
At the same time, Iran’s Foreign Ministry rejected Kuwait’s allegations that Tehran had been planning “hostile actions” against the country.
