The upcoming three-day Holy Spirit holiday weekend is expected to bring summer-like weather. People heading out for seaside or mountain getaways will enjoy conditions ideal for swimming, walks, and outdoor activities.
While there may be some instability with occasional local showers or brief rain — mainly in mountainous areas during the warmer hours of the day — temperatures will stay at high levels.
Specifically, temperatures are expected to rise above 30°C, allowing the season’s first swimmers to comfortably enjoy the sea.
Where it will rain in the coming hours:
In the Ionian Sea region, Epirus, western and central mainland Greece, and western and central Peloponnese, there will be occasional clouds with brief local showers, mainly around midday and in the afternoon on Saturday, when isolated thunderstorms may also occur, especially in mountainous areas.
On Sunday, local showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms are expected in eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and the mountainous areas of the rest of mainland Greece.
On Holy Spirit Monday, local showers are expected mainly in the country’s mountainous regions.
The only downside: slight instability in mountainous areas
According to Protothema.gr meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafilias, the Holy Spirit weekend will generally feature very good weather conditions, ideal for trips to both the mountains and the sea. The only exception will be some instability, mainly in mountainous areas during the warmest hours of the day. Temperatures will exceed 30°C in many areas, while sea temperatures, around 20–21°C, are now suitable for the first swims of the season.
