The weekend is coming with generally good weather conditions, ideal for trips to both the mountains and the sea, according to meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllias of protothema.gr. The only exception will be some localized instability, mainly in mountainous areas and during the hottest hours of the day. Temperatures will exceed 30°C in several regions, while sea temperatures—around 20–21°C—are now suitable for the first swims of the season.
More specifically, for today, Friday, May 29, 2026, during the midday and afternoon hours, brief showers will occur in western and northern areas as well as on Crete. In the Peloponnese and Central Greece, thunderstorms are also possible, mainly in mountainous regions.
Winds will blow from the north-northwest up to 6 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea, while in the Ionian Sea they will be weaker. Maximum temperatures will reach around 30°C in central and northern Greece, as well as in Crete and the Dodecanese.
In Athens, the weather will initially be clear. From midday onward, some clouds will develop and brief rain is not ruled out, mainly in western and southern parts. Winds will blow from the northeast at 4–6 Beaufort, with temperatures ranging from 19°C to 28°C.
In Thessaloniki, some cloud cover is expected, with a slight chance of drizzle around midday. Winds in the Thermaic Gulf will be light, and temperatures will reach up to 29°C.
On Saturday, instability will be limited mainly to western areas. On Sunday, it will affect more inland regions, with showers and brief thunderstorms mainly in mountainous areas and during the hottest hours of the day.
On Monday, Pentecost Monday, the weather will be very good both on land and at sea.
