Unsettled weather today with a slight drop in temperature, where it will rain

Rain and thunderstorms are expected across many parts of the country today. Conditions will improve from the evening onward, with temperatures gradually rising over the weekend. Detailed forecast from the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY)

Weather instability will be the main feature across several regions of Greece today, with local showers and scattered thunderstorms, mainly in western, central, and northern mainland areas, according to the forecast by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY).

At the same time, temperatures will see a slight decrease, particularly in western and northern regions. Highs will reach 28–29°C in most areas and 30–31°C in eastern mainland regions. Southerly winds in the Aegean will locally reach up to force 7 on the Beaufort scale.

Weather phenomena are expected to weaken from the evening onward, while over the following three days conditions will gradually improve, with rising temperatures and fewer rain events.

MACEDONIA, THRACE

Weather: A few clouds that will quickly increase, bringing local rain showers and, mainly around midday and in the afternoon, scattered thunderstorms. Improvement is expected late at night.

Winds: Southerly winds at 3–4 Beaufort, locally up to 5 Beaufort in eastern coastal areas. Variable light winds from the afternoon.

Temperature: 16°C to 30°C. In western Macedonia, temperatures will be 3–4 degrees lower.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN CENTRAL GREECE, WESTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: Cloudiness with local rain and scattered thunderstorms in the northern Ionian, Epirus, and western Central Greece.

Elsewhere, generally fair weather with temporary cloud build-up around midday and afternoon and a chance of local showers, mainly in mountainous areas. Conditions will improve after the afternoon.

Winds: Southerly winds at 3–5 Beaufort, turning west-northwesterly at 3–4 Beaufort from the afternoon.

Temperature: 17°C to 28°C. Inland Epirus will be 2–4 degrees cooler.

THESSALY, EASTERN CENTRAL GREECE, EUBOEA, EASTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: A few clouds gradually increasing, with local rain showers and, mainly during midday and afternoon in Thessaly, central Greece, and Euboea, scattered thunderstorms. Improvement expected from the evening.

Winds: South to southwest winds at 3–5 Beaufort, becoming northwesterly at 3–4 Beaufort during the evening.

Temperature: 17°C to 30°C, reaching 31°C in eastern Central Greece and eastern Peloponnese.

CYCLADES, CRETE

Weather: Generally clear. Thin high clouds developing from midday.

Winds: Southwesterly winds at 4–6 Beaufort, locally up to 7 Beaufort in the western Cyclades.

Temperature: 18°C to 29°C.

EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANESE

Weather: Generally clear. Local cloud cover developing from midday in northern areas, where local showers are expected from the afternoon.

Winds: South to southwest winds at 3–5 Beaufort, locally up to 6 Beaufort in northern areas.

Temperature: 19°C to 29°C.

ATTICA

Weather: Generally clear. Temporary cloudiness around midday and afternoon with a chance of local showers, mainly in western and northern parts of the region.

Winds: South to southwest winds at 3–5 Beaufort, turning northwesterly at 3–4 Beaufort in the evening.

Temperature: 18°C to 31°C.

THESSALONIKI

Weather: A few clouds that will quickly increase, bringing local rain showers and, mainly around midday and afternoon, scattered thunderstorms. Improvement expected late in the evening.

Winds: Variable winds at 3–4 Beaufort.

Temperature: 18°C to 29°C.

FORECAST FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 5, 2026

Partly cloudy skies, with locally increased cloud cover over eastern mainland Greece, Euboea, the Sporades, and the northern Aegean. From midday onward, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected over the rest of the mainland, mainly in mountainous areas. Conditions will improve from the afternoon.

Visibility will be locally reduced during the morning and evening hours.

Winds will be northwesterly at 2–4 Beaufort in western areas, while eastern regions will experience light winds and temporarily southerly winds at 4–5 Beaufort during the morning.

Temperatures will reach 27–29°C across most mainland areas and locally 30–31°C in Thessaly. On the islands, temperatures will reach 25–26°C, and locally up to 28°C in Crete.

FORECAST FOR SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 2026

Generally fair weather with temporary cloud development, mainly during midday and afternoon hours over northern mainland regions and mountainous areas elsewhere, where showers and possibly isolated thunderstorms may occur.

Visibility will be locally reduced during the morning and evening hours.

Winds will be northwesterly at 2–4 Beaufort and locally up to 5 Beaufort in the Aegean.

Temperatures will rise slightly throughout the country.

FORECAST FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 7, 2026

Generally fair weather with temporary cloudiness over mainland areas during midday and afternoon hours and a chance of local showers in mountainous regions.

Visibility will be locally reduced during the morning hours.

Winds will be northerly to northwesterly at 4–5 Beaufort and locally up to 6 Beaufort at sea.

Temperatures will remain largely unchanged.

FORECAST FOR MONDAY, JUNE 8, 2026

Generally fair weather with thin clouds, becoming temporarily denser over mainland areas during midday and afternoon hours, with a chance of local showers in northern mountainous regions.
