Summer weather continues today with temperatures up to 35°C; where rain is expected

Summer-like conditions are expected across most of the country, with occasional afternoon showers over the mainland and stronger northerly winds in the Aegean Sea over the next few days

Summer-like weather will prevail across most of Greece today, with temperatures locally reaching 35°C. However, temporary showers and local rain are expected during the afternoon hours, mainly over mountainous mainland areas, while isolated thunderstorms may develop in the northern mountains. Winds will generally blow from western directions and are not expected to significantly affect temperatures, which will remain above seasonal averages.

More specifically:

Macedonia and Thrace:
Partly cloudy skies, with cloud cover increasing at times. Temporary showers are expected during the afternoon, and isolated thunderstorms may occur in mountainous areas. Winds will be variable at 2–4 Beaufort, turning northeasterly at 4–5 Beaufort in eastern Macedonia and Thrace later in the day. Temperatures will range from 18°C to 33–34°C, while western Macedonia will be 2–4 degrees cooler.

Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Central Greece, Western Peloponnese:
Partly cloudy skies with occasional thicker cloud cover. Brief showers are expected in the mountains of Epirus and western Central Greece during the afternoon. Winds will be westerly at 3–4 Beaufort, temporarily reaching 5 Beaufort in southern areas. Temperatures will range from 17°C to 30°C, reaching 32°C inland.

Thessaly, Eastern Central Greece, Evia, Eastern Peloponnese:
Mostly sunny with occasional high clouds. Brief afternoon showers may occur in the mountainous areas of Thessaly. Winds will be variable at 3 Beaufort, gradually turning westerly at 3–5 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 18°C to 32°C, locally reaching 34–35°C inland.

Cyclades and Crete:
Generally clear skies. Winds will be westerly at 3–5 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 20°C to 28°C, reaching 30°C in Crete.

Eastern Aegean Islands and Dodecanese:
Sunny weather throughout the day. Winds will be westerly at 3–4 Beaufort, temporarily reaching 5 Beaufort in southern areas. Temperatures will range from 21°C to 31°C, with northern islands being slightly cooler.

Attica:
Mostly sunny with occasional high clouds. Winds will be variable at 2–3 Beaufort, briefly turning southerly at 3–4 Beaufort during the afternoon. Temperatures will range from 21°C to 33°C.

Thessaloniki:
Partly cloudy conditions, with a chance of showers in nearby mountainous areas during the afternoon. Winds will be variable at 2–3 Beaufort, briefly turning southerly at 3–4 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 18°C to 32°C.

Forecast for Wednesday, June 17

Generally fair weather is expected. Clouds will develop over mainland areas during the day, bringing local showers and isolated thunderstorms to central and northern regions in the afternoon. Northerly winds will blow at 3–5 Beaufort, reaching 6 Beaufort in parts of the Aegean. Temperatures will reach 30–32°C in most areas and up to 33–34°C inland.

Forecast for Thursday, June 18

The day will begin mostly sunny, with some clouds over the Sporades and Evia, where local showers are expected. During the afternoon, cloud development over mainland Greece and Crete may bring localized rain and thunderstorms, mainly in mountainous areas of the Peloponnese. Northerly winds will strengthen to 4–5 Beaufort, reaching 6–7 Beaufort in parts of the Aegean. Temperatures will fall slightly in eastern mainland regions.

Forecast for Friday, June 19

Mostly sunny weather will continue, although afternoon cloud build-up over mainland areas may bring isolated showers in mountainous regions. Winds will remain northerly in eastern Greece at 4–6 Beaufort and up to 7 Beaufort in parts of the Aegean. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged.

Forecast for Saturday, June 20

Generally fair weather is expected, with temporary afternoon cloud development over western and northern mainland regions. A few local showers may occur in mountainous areas. Winds will remain northerly in the east and variable in the west, while temperatures are expected to remain stable.
