The Migration Minister also informed the American ambassador about the challenges faced by the European Union in implementing the new Migration and Asylum Pact. As he noted, key issues include the effective protection of external borders, combating migrant smuggling networks, strengthening returns, and forming a coherent European framework for managing migration pressures.

International developments regarding migration were also discussed, as well as changes observed in the policies of many countries regarding the management of illegal migration and refugee flows.

Both sides confirmed the high level of cooperation between Greece and the United States in the field of migration and asylum, underlining the importance of close cooperation between relevant services, the exchange of expertise, and the use of best practices to address modern migration challenges. The Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum, Sevi Voloudaki, also attended the meeting.
