Two months after a life-threatening health ordeal, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Giorgos Mylonakis returned to Evangelismos Hospital—not as a patient, but to personally thank the doctors, nurses, orderlies, support staff, and hospital administration who cared for him during his hospitalization.

In a post on social media, Mylonakis also expressed his gratitude to his family, friends, and everyone who supported him with prayers, messages, or kind thoughts, emphasizing that “some battles are not won by one person alone—they are won together.”

He also stressed that health is life’s greatest gift, concluding that he now feels nothing but deep gratitude.

His full statement

“Two months ago, I was fighting the hardest battle of my life.

Today I returned to Evangelismos Hospital, not as a patient, but to say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the people who stood by me. To the doctors, nurses, orderlies, support staff, and the hospital’s administration. To all those who work quietly every day, with selflessness and dedication, giving their very best to every person who walks through the hospital’s doors.

Science saves lives. But humanity, compassion, and solidarity are what give us the courage to overcome difficult moments and find the strength to move forward.

I feel deeply grateful to everyone who stood by me throughout this difficult journey.

I also want to sincerely thank my family, who supported me with love, strength, and tireless encouragement every step of the way. I also thank my friends and everyone who supported me with a prayer, a message, or a kind thought. That love gave me the strength to keep going.

Some battles are not won by one person alone. They are won together.
