At least 2,295 people have died in Venezuela following the two powerful earthquakes that struck the country on June 24, according to the latest update released by National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez.

The earthquakes, measuring magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, have also left 11,267 people injured, according to the same report.

There are fears that the death toll could rise sharply, as around 50,000 people are still believed to be missing.

Earlier today, Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, declared seven days of national mourning.
