A total of 44 agricultural and forest fires broke out across Greece over the past 24 hours, according to the Hellenic Fire Service.

Of these, 39 were dealt with immediately, while still in their initial stage, while firefighting forces are continuing to tackle five more.

Local investigative offices, along with teams from the Directorate for the Investigation of Arson Crimes, are looking into the causes of the fires.
