Simeon Kedikoglou.
Speaking yesterday on Action24 television regarding his decision to resign from his seat in Parliament, Mr. Kedikoglou initially noted:
“I had announced it in advance. I joined SYRIZA as part of the expansion effort led by Alexis Tsipras in 2023. When the person with whom I had agreed to work resigned a few days later, it was a very difficult political situation for me. My colleagues and I did great work in Parliament. I thanked them, and I truly appreciate them beyond measure. Since I believe that Alexis Tsipras is the person I must follow, I couldn’t have a foot in both camps. I could not be a SYRIZA MP and at the same time praise Mr. Tsipras. I did what I said I would. For me, it was a matter of consistency—of words and deeds. I do what I believe is right. I felt that resigning was the right thing to do.”
And he added elsewhere: “We also have a situation where we don’t have a president. We’re handing the resignation letter to the president, but SYRIZA doesn’t have a president.” “I will try to join the Hellenic Police Force,” he said elsewhere.
He also stated at another point in his interview that he has not been in contact with Alexis Tsipras, while emphasizing that “given the momentum I see for ELAS, this is just the beginning. Things will get even more intense when election time comes. People are telling me, ‘You’re way too late.’”
