Traffic at the Port of Piraeus has been exceptionally heavy since the early morning hours, as the July holiday exodus reaches its peak, with thousands of Athenians leaving for the Greek islands for their summer vacations.

Passengers carrying luggage and families continue to stream toward the departure gates, while vehicle traffic boarding ferries is also significantly increased. The most popular destinations in the Aegean and Crete are seeing the highest demand, with several sailings departing at or close to full capacity.
Port authorities are on heightened alert, implementing measures to facilitate traffic flow and ensure the safe boarding of passengers. They are also advising travelers to arrive at the port well in advance of departure to avoid delays, particularly those traveling with private vehicles.
