Positive indications are emerging from negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian side in Gaza, with both parties suggesting that progress has been made toward reaching a ceasefire agreement.

Reports indicate that an announcement on a possible agreement could come soon, focusing on the second phase of the ceasefire. The main elements under discussion reportedly include the complete disarmament of Hamas and the establishment of a new security framework for the Gaza Strip.

Under the framework being discussed, Hamas would hand over all of its weapons — including light and heavy arms, tunnel networks, stockpiles and production facilities — to a Palestinian committee that would become the sole authority responsible for controlling weapons in Gaza.

Hamas would also halt all military activity, recruitment efforts and rearmament operations, while Israel would not withdraw beyond the initial “security line” until the full disarmament process is completed.

The transfer of weapons is expected to begin in the coming weeks under international supervision involving a multinational monitoring mechanism.
